Unplugged Craftivism

  • Lackawanna Station 1 Lackawanna Plaza Montclair, NJ, 07042 United States (map)

To celebrate Global Day of Unplugging—a worldwide 24-hour digital pause where people and communities power down devices and power on real-world connection—we’re throwing a craftivist event! Open to knitters, crocheters, and other makers.

The craftivist projects:
+ Bring supplies to get started on the MELT THE ICE hat. We can help you with your project.
+ Bring any knitting or crochet project in progress.
+ We’ll have ICE OUT and Craftivist Stencils to make your dream t-shirt.
+ Write + draw a beautiful postcard to immigrants being detained at Delancey Hall.

This event is a $10-20 sliding scale entrance fee which will go towards supplies and donations to MFEE who provide support for our local immigrant families.

Important info:

📍Getting here: Put “Lackawanna Station” into your GPS, not RecRoom, so you can get to the correct entrance. We’re the first door on the right when you come into the main entrance.

🚗 Parking: Use the lots at 1 Lackawanna Plaza (our front entrance) or 227 Bloomfield Ave (our rear entrance) . Download the HONK app or scan a QR code on-site to pay ($2.50/hr) and avoid a ticket.

♿️ Accessibility: Lackawanna Station is an ADA accessible building with no stairs to navigate. We have a single-room, non-gender-specific restroom inside RecRoom, and there are 2 more inside the station.
