Frequently Asked Questions

  • Let’s put it like this: Y’know how working from home usually sucks? And working from coffee shops can also suck? That’s where coworking comes in! Coworking spaces act like your favorite hangout spot—but for getting work done! They're full of free coffee, strong WiFi, and other awesome people who are doing their thing, too. It’s like working together but on your own projects, with a built-in community ready for those water-cooler chats or collaboration moments! And when you need privacy, you can pop into a phone booth or book a meeting room. It's flexible, fun, and makes work feel a little less like...well, work. And RecRoom? With all of that in a skylight-filled space in the heart of Montclair, we'll be all you've always wanted and never knew you needed!

  • November 10th, 2025! Jump on our newsletter list to get the updates as they drop - and you can win a free day pass, too.

  • All adults are welcome in our space. If you have a need to get out of your house/library/local coffee shop/apartment/dorm for strong WiFi and great vibes, RecRoom is for you.

  • Inside Lackawanna Station, on the corner of Bloomfield Ave and Grove Street. We’ll be the first door on the right when you walk in from the main entrance.

  • Use our lot at 1 Lackawanna Plaza or the “across the street” lot at 233 Bloomfield Ave (the entrance actually leads right into the building—no street crossing required). Download the HONK app to pay $1.50/hr and avoid tickets.

You’ll also find $1/hr metered parking around RecRoom (usually 2-hour limit) and maybe even free street parking if you’re lucky.

And if you’re a member, you can add on $75/mo discounted parking. It pays for itself after just 50 hours in our lots, and can be used anytime you’re downtown - not just when you’re at RecRoom.

  • Lackawanna Station is an ADA accessible building with no stairs to navigate. Both main entrances have large, automatic doors, and the restrooms inside are non-gendered. We’ve also ensured that our floor plan is wheelchair-friendly. If you have any further needs or accessibility questions, please reach out and we’ll be happy to help.

  • Nope! Our day passes are a flexible and affordable way to drop into our space anytime. No memberships or commitments needed! (Although we hope you love being here as much as we do and decide to take advantage of our many membership packages - something’s bound to fit your needs and budget!)

  • Yes! We offer shared household memberships for an extra $50/month or $550/year.

    Here’s how it works:
Let’s say you pick the 4 visits/month membership—normally $97/month or $1067/year. If you want to share those 4 visits with someone you live with, the total becomes $147/month or $1617/year. Simple.

Now, how the visits work depends on the membership:

    • For 4-visits/month: You and your household member share the 4 visits. If one of you comes in, that’s one visit. If you both come in on the same day, that’s two visits. You get to mix and match how you use them.

    • For Unlimited or Dedicated Desk: Only one of you can use the space at a time. If you both want to be there on the same day, the second person just grabs a discounted day pass.

It’s a great way to work better together (or just get out of each other’s way).

  • Alright, here’s how payments will work pre-opening:

    Monthly Members
Pay for your first month now to lock in your founding member perks. After that, your membership payments will pause until the 31st day RecRoom is open. That’s when your monthly billing starts up automatically—same payment method, once a month, until you say otherwise.

    Annual Members
Pay upfront now, and your year kicks off on Day 1 of Rec Room’s official opening. It’ll run through Day 365, with the option to renew (we hope you do!). Plus you’ll get 10% of your plan’s cost back in credits as a bonus—each worth $1 to spend on conference room time. High five!

  • Yes! Every membership comes with built-in discounts, with the biggest savings coming with annual packages. We also have need-based scholarships available for those in marginalized communities, which you can learn more about here.

  • Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and weekends 10-4. Hours can be extended for events.
