In this small-group workshop run by Kinetic Minds, students explore creative coding and artificial intelligence using MIT’s Scratch, a visual programming platform designed for kids.
Children build an interactive coding project and are introduced to how AI tools work at a basic, age-appropriate level. Through guided discussion and experimentation, students learn that AI looks for patterns, makes predictions, and can sometimes get things wrong.
The workshop also includes thoughtful conversation about online safety and responsible technology use. Kids discuss what information is okay to share, how to make smart choices online, and when to ask a trusted adult for help. These ideas are introduced naturally alongside the coding activity, without turning the session into a lecture.
The experience is playful, beginner-friendly, and designed to build curiosity, confidence, and awareness around technology.
No prior coding or AI experience is required.
All materials are provided.
Designed for curious 2nd–5th graders.
