Sponsor Spotlight: Angelica Garcia of Bloombox Flowers
While you might not have stepped inside Bloombox’s charming little shop just off Watchung Plaza, you’ve probably seen their light blue Flower Truck, Charlie, parked somewhere around town. But behind that cheerful truck is a flower haven tucked on a quiet corner of N. Fullerton—bursting with seasonal blooms, warm vibes, and a scent that’ll stop you in your tracks.
Bloombox is your go-to for thoughtfully wild wrapped bouquets, flower subscriptions, and event florals that are both stunning and low-stress (they made my friend’s baby shower look and feel amazing—and didn’t break the bank). They even have a Bud Club: buy 5 bouquets, get 5 free stems.
We caught up with founder Angelica for a quick Q&A about how it all started, her favorite Montclair haunts, and what’s blooming this season.
Hi Angelica! Tell us when and why you started Bloombox Flowers?
I started Bloombox in 2017 in Connecticut. I lived there for 4 years and found myself going to get flowers to make myself happy. Being from Jersey, I missed my family and friends so much all the time, I just tried to do things that would make me smile and flowers were always there to keep me busy and bring a smile to my face!
You have $100 to spend in Montclair. Where do you go and what’s in the bag?
I’m definitely going somewhere to eat! There are so many great restaurants in Montclair, I’d go home with an empty bag but a full belly!
What local biz knows you by name, and why?
Local Coffee and Watchung Booksellers, we’re frequent visitors and we’ve done collaborations with both of them!
Spring is here! What are you most looking forward to?
LOCAL FLOWERS!! Starting in the Spring we work with NJ farmers to get as many local, unique and fresh flowers as possible.
We’re building a Rec Room playlist on Spotify. What song needs to be on it?
This is a hard one, but since I’m in my mom era, my favorite is when my daughter sings Toy Story’s “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” 🥹
Your shop is located right off of Watchung Plaza. What’s your go-to in that area?
My go-to for a latte is Local Coffee, for a lemonade it’s Meet me at Madisons, for breakfast it’s Bluestone, for Ramen it’s Koreander, for sushi it’s Sushi Koshi, and when I’m not eating, mani and pedi at Hanna Nails.
What’s the most favorite thing that you sell – and why?
My most favorite thing has to be our wrapped wild flower mixed bouquets because none of them are ever the same!
Shout out time! Who do you want to give some love right now?
Our customers! I love the community we’ve built in our little shop and love getting to know everyone who visits.
What do we need to know about Bloombox right now?
Mother’s Day is just around the corner! You can place your order in store, online or over the phone! It’s always best to pre-order!
What’s one thing you wanna tell your younger self?
Be patient, all your dreams will come true.
