RecRoom Opens Its Doors in Montclair with a Full Day of Coworking, Community and Celebration
It’s official: RecRoom, Montclair’s new coworking and community space, is opening its doors! After months of anticipation, RecRoom will host its Grand Opening Day on Monday, November 10, inviting neighbors, entrepreneurs, creatives, and remote workers to experience the space, connect with one another, and celebrate the start of something special.
RecRoom was born as a welcoming ‘third space’ - a place to work, study, meet, and hang out right here in Montclair. A space that prioritizes community as much as coworking, where people can work and play, relax and recharge. A space that’s accessible, inclusive, and built for real humans who want to feel connected.
The day will include coworking, wellness activities, a ribbon cutting, and an evening open house—all designed to showcase what RecRoom is all about: good work, good people, and good energy.
The day’s schedule includes:
🚪8 AM: Doors open!
We’re here for a full day of coworking, starting with a blessing of the space led by Lisa Battito of Enlightened Path Healing.
🥰 11 AM–12:30 PM: Mini-table massage or cupping session!
Kendra Fitzgerald will be here offering complimentary sessions for those coworking with us that day. Use the sign up form in the space to claim your spot and get ready for a relaxing reset.
✂️ 1 PM – Ribbon cutting!
Celebrate this milestone moment with us. It takes a village to open a coworking + community space!
🚶🏻♀️3-3:30pm & 3:30-4pm: Wellness Walk!
Stretch your legs, meet a new friend, and pick up a few stress-busting techniques with Dr. Mariela Torres of The Mellow Minded MD. Meet her by the welcome desk and she’ll lead you around Lackawanna and/or outside (weather permitting).
🎈6–8 PM – Open House!
Swing by to see the space, talk to the team, meet some friendly humans, and toast to the start of something special. We’ll have drinks, bites, and good energy waiting for you.
“No need to RSVP for the ribbon cutting or open house - those are completely open to the community,” says Michelle Ward, co-founder of RecRoom. “If you’d like to cowork during the day and take advantage of the wellness walks or massage offerings, just grab a day pass or use a visit from your membership. We’re so excited to finally welcome everyone in.”
A Community Hub for Montclair’s Founders, Freelancers, and Remote Workers
Co-founded by longtime Montclair resident Michelle Ward, RecRoom was born from a simple idea: weekdays should feel better. Bathed in natural light, the 2,700-square-foot space mixes productivity and connection with flexible seating, a meeting room, phone booth, private offices, a cozy lounge, and kitchenette. You can expect strong WiFi, free coffee and tea, friendly people and more.
“RecRoom isn’t your house, your traditional office, or your coffee shop,” Ward says. “It’s a space that helps people get great work done - and actually enjoy their day while doing it. We’re here for the freelancers, founders, and remote workers who want to spend their day alongside good humans in a welcoming, energizing environment.”
