Meet Lily! She’s a writer and indie filmmaker, raised in Montclair, with a passion for telling stories of any and all kinds! With an interest in stylized world-building, Lily makes films that blend visual escapism with the everyday realities of being a human.
When she’s not reading, watching, or writing, she can be found hiking, biking, or planning her next road trip. She joined RecRoom to broaden her creative and professional circle, to meet more Montclairians, and form creative connections!
Where you live: Montclair, NJ
Favorite brunch: Either Red Eye Cafe pumpkin pancakes or The Corner breakfast sandwich. Can’t decide!
Fun fact: Won the Montclair Film Festival kids competition 4 times before the age of 15! I also spent the covid pandemic camping in the desert. The duality!
Professional background: For the past couple years, I’ve worked in film and TV development, reading and critiquing screenplays. I also write and direct short films, from stop-motion animation to live-action stylized comedy. I have my BA in media arts from Occidental College in Los Angeles.

Currently watching: Sterlin Harjo’s FX show The Lowdown. It’s got action, comedy, heart, and a great cast. Highly recommend!
Why I joined RecRoom: As a longtime resident of Montclair, I’ve been searching for a community space to work collaboratively and find inspiration in its network of creatives and professionals. I believe there is a big need for this space in Montclair and am so thrilled to be a part of it!
